Waterproof Paper Barrier

01

The Water-Resistant Barrier

The first layer that goes is a water-resistant barrier. By default, you have plywood and a sheet of Tyvek from how the framers prepared the wall. This waterproof carton prevents water from the outside from getting through the plywood and into your house. You can be more careful by wanting 2 layers of this waterproof carton.

02

The Metal Mesh

The layer that comes after the waterproof carton is a metal mesh sheet. The purpose of this sheet is to hold the cement plaster coat. To form the edges of the walls etc. we have edges that leave a crisp edge giving the walls defining corners.

03

The Cement Plaster Coat

The third layer is the cement plaster coat which serves the purpose of flatting the wall surface and giving the wall an inch of structure. This layer will provide a flat surface for the final coat to be applied on.

04

The Plastic Mesh

This fourth layer is very important if not the most important factor to having stucco last long unscafed. In fact, most stucco companies leave this part out and wonder why there are cracks in their work. This plastic mesh goes into the cement plaster and prevents the stucco on the surface to crack. It is like putting fiber in concrete to increase the strengh and longevity. This is why we, Euro Stucco Design, have the best results, because we do things different and with a passion.

The Finish

The last coat is called Finish or sometimes called Dryvit. This is the final coat of the stucco. This coat has two parts: the color and the texture. You can pick any color of the rainbow for your stucco and mix match different colors for example the trims around the window to be a darker color than the wall. The second part is the texture. We have many textures from smooth to quartzputz. Call to see the many options we have to find the one you like.
